Before moving to the Big Island, we vacationed here for a number of years, usually renting condominiums. We have tried to include all the things we liked best about the places we stayed, and also to avoid those things that made for a less than enjoyable stay. The result is our condo at Casa de Emdeko. This oceanfront complex offers two swimming pools, elevators, a sunning beach, gas grills, a cabana with full showers and a wonderfully convenient location, approximately halfway between Kailua town and Keahou. A new open air market place is located within easy walking distance, and the Ali'i Drive Shuttle makes it easy to get around.

This third floor one bedroom, one bath condominium was totally renovated in 1998. It has a garden view, with ocean view from the lanai, and is decorated with tropical prints and art. For your comfort and enjoyment, the air-conditioned unit is equipped with color tv and vcr, stereo with cassette and cd players, games, books, magazines and puzzles. There are two telephones, one of which is equipped with amplification for the hearing impaired, and an answering machine.

We provide a fully equipped kitchen, including microwave, toaster, coffee maker, blender, mixer, rice cooker, and plenty of pots, pans, baking tins, mixing bowls and storage containers. We stock the unit with coffee, tea, sugar and sweetener, flour, rice, and basic spices. As a service (for a small additional fee) we will buy your groceries to your specifications and have the unit stocked for your arrival. There are several sets of linens, choice of feather or foam pillows, lots of towels and beach mats and beach towels. All basic toiletries are provided, including shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste, and suntan oil.

Safety is also considered. There is a fire extinguisher under the sink, and a first aid kit in the bathroom. Additionally, cleaning supplies and equipment are provided, as well as an iron and ironing board, laundry supplies and laundry basket.

There is a queen bed and a queen sleeper sofa, and a "fold out" foam mattress. In the interest of comfort, there is a "portable" back board to use under the mattress of the sleeper sofa.

The complex has an onsite convenience store with deli, and a coin operated Laundromat. The condo association has maintenance and security personnel on duty and a part time office employee handling parking permits, pool identification tags, and questions you might have about the complex as a whole. We are on-island and usually available to answer questions, solve problems, and help make your holiday a memorable and enjoyable experience.

Price of Paradise Base rates are $75 low season and $90 high season. Taxes are 4% for General Excise and 7.25% for Transient Occupancy. Since our unit is owner maintained (which means I do the cleaning!), we discount for longer stays. The table below shows the rate WITH TAX INCLUDED. This is what you will be paying.

- For reservations in 2002, received before Dec 1, 2001, 2001 rates will apply.
- We require a two night deposit to hold the reservation, due within 7 days of making the reservation, with the balance due 30 days prior to your scheduled arrival.
- We can be flexible about arrival and departure times, but generally, check in is at 2:00 pm. and check out is 11:00.
